23/05/04 Day 51

The day of taking stock, catching up, sorting out and filling up.

When we awoke at 9:30 (our longest lie in yet), from (my) dreams of sandy beaches, swimming and four guides (my first 'travel dream') we heard the sound of bacon being fried. On entering the kitchen we were greeted by 2 very chatty English (we think, one Essex) people, eating boiled eggs, bacon and bread. They were very excited in that they had bought eggs for breakfast and then found another 10 plus bacon plus (we, plus yoghurt plus tomato sauce, mayonnaise, pasta..!! (catsup on), which we had assumed belonged to the Dutch and wanted go with them on the ferry to Split - the Bridge/Lucky for us they were also leaving today, leaving us a fridge full of food. Scrambled eggs, bacon, bread and fruit juice here we come! (with an English newspaper to top it of - admittedly a Daily express). And so we pushed breakfasting at around 11:30, after sitting at the fridge. And the others went to feed George with the spare plates on their way out TASTY

The weather had returned to hot and muggy and I was dripping at 12pm. An trail on the internet allowed us to book a reasonably cheap hostel in Sarajevo for the next two nights and threw up a huge debate regarding our flight home. To cut a very long story short - the cheapest for both of we would be to fly to separate airportsbut we wanted to fly together, making it more expensive for one or the other. And when we say expensive we actually mean €250 for the flight. Unbelievable - £2 to fly home! And so we have concluded to go to Stanstead and will try and book it tomorrow. There wasn't a lot of time for emailing which was really frustrating as I have so much to tell everyone. To alleviate the stress we hit the beach (which was stony) and so I sunbathed and Brian swam. We took the call back via the bus station to try and hosti out tickets for Sarajevo but their computer was broken (and not the bus as this lady innitically said) and so we couldn't so we gave up now and just turn up. We returned to find new people in our house - yes no balconi, no fruit juice and 1 was yoghurt room. Thank goodness they didn't take the vegetables, which were formed into a kind of hmmm I've never written that before vegetable ratatouie with pasta. What an accomplished cook I'm turning out to be. The rest of the day has been spent washing, making decisions and preparing for 6 hour bus ride tomorrow which starts at 8am.
