16/08/04 Day 44...
The first real lie in (till 8:30) that we've had in a while, mainly due to the window shutters (despite the fact that they looked like they were going to drop to onto any minute), which kept out the light. Our breakfast comprised of more bread, cheese and water melon and then we set ff via the post office and a few shops (oops) to out rock for the morning which was quite uncomfortable but did allow half an hours baking and a nice dip in the sea, which was a bit scary as it got very deep very quickly and was very very salty. We fandled around then again and bought some lunch, after which I had my shopping spree which I'd been promising myself. And it was bye-bye to the blue trousers, which have been replaced by some Lora Craft-stiely trousers - very backpacker. Our searchfor dinner ended in pizza and a cheap cabbage, in an our attempt to eat vegetables. When we got back to our room, a very loud disco started on a boat, which quite frankly could have been in our room; it was so loud. Cool music though. Brian managed to fall asleep to it very quickly while I read German magazines...
While there was not a lot to do in Roviny and I feel I haven't written enough about it, it also gets an my favourite places last. The sea and the sun is amazing, the town adorable, the craft shops I could have spent lots of money in, and there was plenty of choice of food. A really lovely place to come on a holiday to - and a bit classier than the average Spanish island. It's the sort of place I'd return to with a group of friends for a week. Tourism was of, but the streets are so like a maze that I often walked down an empty street. Because of the Italian influence it also made me think that the Italian coast may be like this in parts, which got me very excited. It is a town full of people enjoying their holiday - no screaming kids, no arguments, no holiday dangers, just everyone having a good time. Croatia is an underrated country. To put it another way: "keep keep...coo"
In no particular order >>>
My next was spinach, artichoke hearts and cauliflower (although, thinking about it, I don't remember any cauliflower...)! It didn't even come with cheese!! & (although, thinking doubly! I did pay extra to relax this obscenity).
Despite avoiding the rest of the shopping bystaying in the room and painstakingly 'recycling' Heather's trousers, the small amount I was subjected to got me thoroughly £'s (is that how you spell 'thoroughly'? There seem to be at an awful lot of 'i's' in it) hot & bothered, and consequently not in the mood for sunbathing. But the sum was less energetic this time, lacking yesterday's threat of being pulverised against sharp rocks.
Watermelon is a cheap, if slightly monotonous (and messy) way to eat & fruit.
So I'm with Heather on the praising of Roviny, but not being quite the tanned shopper that she it is I would have to be slightly less flattering. All the same, it felt nice, the market was great, old town, sea, etc. we also had a good time there, with important developments in the 'balance' surfacing.
