25/07/04 - Day 22

Always the Saturday night disco. They didn't mention that when they took our money, did they?! We had what seemed like hours of Hungarian song, shoulded at full volume upstairs large (I would imagine) Hungarian men... Never mind though.

So tired and, as always, hot, we packed up and set off in search of breakfast. Nowit is fascinating that two cities - Bucharest and Budapest, can contrast so sharply in their style of nourishment. We searched for ages in the Romanian capital for a simple 'sit down cafe' with some nice cake, yet all we found were little in - the-wall parts bakery/patisseries. 'Eric Capital' away you can barely move 5 metres walkthrough finding over a table or paracol, yet if you want to buy a quick, cheap takeaway savoury snack you are forced into Mc Donald's (don't worry weekend, but it was a close call)

Anchaws, it was quite an unsuccessful day we walked to the Parliament and marvelled, appropriately at its vast-value design, but Heather was disappointed not to be able to do the tour. (she's got caught box-ticking goner she actually wanted to see st Stephen's Crown, which we've already seen a replica of!).

So we brought the handness that threatened to engulp us (two warm-hot and sleepless nights) and headed back to the tram chain bridge (which was pedestrianised today) in the hope of seeing some Hungarian folk dancing. Instead all we got was really an hour of some idiot performing children's magic tricks and blowing up balloons. So sorely dissapointed, WE west back to get our bag (wire internet) and motored to the station. Finally bought some bread, suited to first Suit letters (posta - shut) and dumbell aboard the wizorally train that is currently whizzing us in our continued compost towards the Slovenian border.

And before I finish, it would be worth observing that a certain 'someone' who couldn't sleep at all on trains, 12 days ago, fell asleep witho within 5 minutes of us setting og and, is still snoring gently now (despite a particularly un-bumpy ride, which I hope explains (in part) the handwriting).

- Ahha, she has arisen - So it is time for our Romanian (better late than never) and Hungarian summaries.Romanian Roundup

Landscape - got everything. Stalling. Sunflowers. Some small and very pretty mountain Mountain ranges.

People: 'Aryan, a bit non-descript. Not overly helpful but certainly no complaints '.

Tourism - lacking. Despite Dracula 'thing'.

Food: cheap. No cafes. No cake. Cake disgusting. P(ery hole-in-the-wall-y with Romanian cake consists of woprical 'pieces of' not very light and fluffy (quite Frankly) Bile cake' struck - squashed with chocolate cream and covered in dark chocolate. And you don't get very much of it. Beer is horrible

Capital City: Nice-quite flowing in a 'matter of sovret' Style our series

Language: easy to read, hard to speak.

Fashion: - orange

Hungarian Highlights

Landscape: Still uninteresting and sunflowers - Is it wasn't for the heavens we could still be in Romania.

People: A lot of English speakers - Especially those working in ...

Tourism: Much better than anywhere thus far. Information offices - similar to uk ones. Lots to do.

Food: Lots ... we like it. Cakes (asses cases, cores cereals. Traditional if you want it you don't want it not everything else too. Wine = excellent beer = amazingly good

Capital city. Stunning building, the Danube just sensible it all. So much to see and do. Bustling without being overcrowded. clean, holy, lovely. Interesting that its split on rive country)Bow down and give thanks to all things Slovenian. We like slovenia - oh yes, we do!

From the start we had picturesque un-gorated mountains, and quaint lakes with a couple of fisherman in a boat in the middle, and beautiful A-frame houses along the edge. What could potentially have been a most difficult journey (I've bond no idea. Where we were going or how we would get there) was easy, and at most pleasant. Ticket to Marigouina. Marigouina to Griska bluey, and then the smallest, slowest train I have ever seen to Soiske Rathgodia. It literally was 4ft size of a bus and it's stars were small, corrugated iron bus shelter!

We managed to walk straight four Penzion raztranje, but were a bit shocked to be told the only place we'll would find a free bed was in Bled next town. BLOW - it's now 8pm and Pitza Uzbeko Park are mundes later showed (rude and eggerous as there last double room. A smart army of workers set about cleaning it, while we were shown around the beer garden, the swimming pool (yes, that's right) - both in the shadow of slovenia's largest Castle - and possibly even offered five Breakfast. This room is a lovely double very similar to my one next from with a similar sky-light view of the castle (cathedral), complete with ensuite toilet, shower and bath!!! And it is SO quiet here after 4 nights in Elvis' doom (+ 3 in 'Bude-saturde-might-sing-sing-test.)

Before moving on to Slovenia, I feel Budapest deserve a personal summary - it is the first place we're seen to which I'd be more than happy to go back to for a weeks holiday. I'm a lost older despite only being there a couple of days we did Inmearous, I moticea, found the bestviews, saw the best street and burgers square and had a great night out and went to a summer festival. If I were to return I'd stay in a really nice hotel, go out for more meals, visit more museums, go into the Parliament See some folk dancing, do a Danube cruise and go to the aquarium thing and go shopping. There is plenty to keep you occupied and everything is pleasant - the weather, the streets, the buildings and the food. I probably like it so much cos it had no clue what to expect and I hadn't realized the grandeur of the place.

And now able structure - I spent much of the Hungarian have nice areas while thus wrestling but I couldn't help it. I also didn't realize how hilly and foresty Slovakura is - I thought it would probably be a bit of a dump but it has some beautiful landscapes - sort of plain gravel went to swimming casino to and swim in the river.

At Brian said, the room was a huge surprise - in my opinion the best place we've stayed to date. And I had my first 'topless view' where I didn't wake up till morning, in a very long time.
